Huawei is focusing in curved displays

The smartphones have developed to limits and now the manufacturers are experimenting on them. Currently 4K display is getting in as new trend and in combination curved screens are also being made. On this the CEO of Huawei has commented very realistically on both the features. According to him 4K display is not suitable for smartphones whereas curved display is a viable option. He further said that 4K display affects battery life very seriously. However Huawei is considering following the pattern of edge screen on the Galaxy Note Edge.

He has given a very true picture about combination of 4K display and the currently used battery technology. This would mean there would be a compromise between performance and the power consumption. Presently Huawei is not inclined to use 4K display technology. 4K display technology is good enough for bigger screens where the resolution difference can be felt by human eye. In case of screens up to 5 inches the difference between 4K, 2K and Full HD can not be found and felt by the human eye because the smaller size of screen is not much affected by resolution difference.

In case of smartphones the use of 4K reduces to battery life to 6 hours only against 24 hours or more on 2K or Full HD resolution. Now this is a big compromise that a manufacturer has to make and the users would not accept this short life of battery. In future in the human eye can deduct difference between 4K and Full HD resolution on smaller screens, it would be used in smartphones. For this reason Huawei is determined to use current battery technology instead of using 4K and reducing the battery life.

The CEO of Huawei also discussed the issue of curved screens like LG G Flex 2 and Note Edge. He very realistically commented that making of curved screen is difficult and is advancement on technology but has not added anything to the mobile phone or the users experience. Whatever the shape of the screen a smartphone would still be the same. It may be a design difference but has nothing to deliver to the users experience.

The curved design of Note Edge looks good but it is a small step towards advancement of technology. Huawei would like to follow this pattern and ask their LCD partners to work on this direction. Huawei is not concentrating on shape of the LCD but to them it is more important what they are delivering to the consumers.

Huawei has a philosophy of putting the consumers first and they believed in the consumer satisfaction is more important than any other feature or unnecessary addition in their products. Last year there has been a trend of mini versions of flagships but they lacked in similarity and had only the name and the design in common. Huawei launched Ascend P7 which became popular immediately through out the world except European market where it was not launched. The handset became out of stock just with in two weeks.

Huawei has been producing low and mid range devices and never opted for premium products. It does not mean Huawei is a low cost company. It has a huge stock of everything but the low and the mid range devices for the consumers liking.

Based on the previous experience 5 inches screen size has proved to be the ideal size for the display in smartphones. Keeping this in view Huawei will be focusing on this and may go for curved screens rather than going for 4K display.
