Security Problem And Secret Keys To Android Apps

Any operating system working anywhere or in any device is a prime target for the hackers and malware to either corrupt the system in the device or the application or to steal the information to exploit the users. Windows has been the major target because this the most widely used operating system everywhere and becomes a big target. In fact Windows are not the source of evil it is the app that is the culprit.

Here o n the mobile phones operating system, it is the Android that is the most attacked by the malware and the hackers. It is difficult to keep yourself safe from such attackers if you are doing it yourself. Alternatively you can buy a device that is just right for you and keeps itself safe.

Android Operating system may not be the main point of concern here; it is the apps that pose the potential threats for the devices and the difficulty for the users in making use of their devices. Researchers have found out the sources for security risks, though not the “high risk” apps, but there is a big share of Google Play store. Two researchers, Jason Nieh and Nicolas Viennot have developed a “PlayDrone” program to detect such risks.

With the help of PlayDrone, they examined information about apps found in Google Play. A large number of them were found that could be described as a critical security problem. This security issue is with the apps and not with the operating system, as we are talking now about Android.

Developers always maintain record of secret keys in the app, while down loading, the usernames and passwords. Generally the reputed and “top developers,” use the same architecture in their apps. The vulnerable information can be exploited by those determined to steal this information.

Fortunately Nieh and Viennot have worked with Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Amazon to examine this issue and they have evolved a scanning method and are being used effectively to scan apps for the vulnerability and to notify the developers about the problem.

The problem has been resolved but there are yet a few more discoveries about Google Play apps downloaded. About 25% l free apps are the clones or the copies.

Here is a surprising discovery; many users downloaded an app which can function as a weight scale for the object placed on the screen of an Android device. It is strange o hear and equally unbelievable.
