Secret Behind the Apple’s Taptic Engine

Apple has announced their new Apple Watch which is certainly not the iWatch with a host of new releases like fanboys and U2. These releases will give you a satisfying and exhaustive mobile experience while just wearing a watch on your wrist. In this case the display screen is bigger and bright with more and better apps are better having familiar watch crown zooming the screen in and out. These features no doubt are very fine but the best of them is the Taptic Engine which is not only interesting but useful. It is the use of vibrating mode of the watch or the smartphone in miniature.

The Taptic Engine

The Taptic Engine is based on Haptic feedback and Apple‘s first implementation. Haptic feedback is vibration through a device. Users enjoyed the haptic feedback in their Nintendo 64 RumblePack or it could be like any of the phone’s vibration modes. Apple’s methodology involves a linear motor capable of vibrations with different intensity. Although not much is known about this taptic or about the Apple Watch haptic feedback, but is going to be quite interesting and useful. For example following can be the use cases:

A love message can be sent digitally not in words but by heartbeat. The lovers can hear the heartbeat of each other and feel more passionate. The other one is more interesting for example you are trying to find someone in a crowded or unknown place, as you approach nearer to his location, you start receiving stronger pulse. With the proximity of distance the pulse goes stronger.

Similarly passing by some location of your interest, the vibration will remind you of the job you have their like driving by the dry cleaners and “pulse-pulse” reminds you to pick up your order.

This one is really great and very useful. In case of eyesight impaired people who cannot read text messages can receive them in Morse Code and know the contents through vibration by your watch.

The taptic feedback engine is going to work with Apple’s iBeacon technology and has store of reminders for your help. For each action it has a tapping message or what you call a reminder and you will never forget anything. In fact your secretary would be traveling silently with you but will be highly alert. Probably Haptic feedback will be BIG thing in devices.
