How to reduce pixels density on your Samsung Galaxy display and save battery

With the developing quality of electronic devices the manufacturers are trying to pack everything in to this smart little instrument and are trying to present as best as possible on the displays. 2015 is officially the year of QHD displays for smartphones. The purpose of QHD displays is to present sharp and clear pictures and other graphics therefore the manufacturers are trying to pack as many pixels as possible in to the display screen. The experience has proved that all the pixels are not used and useful for such density. They only drain the most desired battery energy and reduce the working time only without any productive result.

Although the users to desire very sharp and crisp graphics maybe their personal pictures are others but don’t realize it is on the expense of battery power and reduction of performance time of the battery. There are others who believe that 1080×1920 resolutions on 5 inches display are good enough and going beyond that serves no purposes. It is only waste of battery power.

The sharpness of the picture is only for the screen whereas the battery power that it is darning is for the whole system which is more important. This issue needs some solution; pictures should be clear enough and battery should not be wasted. The developers are now working the way out and considering sacrificing the QHD.

On the Samsung own galaxy phones the solution is already there, the black is created by Turing off the resolution it self and automatically saving the battery. All the smartphones with AMOLED screens have this quality

Some developers have copied this property of the AMOLED displays and developed apps. They have placed an overlay of black dots over your screen, effectively turning off some pixels. Let us see the methods to save the battery.

Install Pixel Battery Saver

Get the app from the Play Store

Select level of effect

The app will give you a filter option over your screen; users need to place black pixels in a pattern. You can choose the pattern’s density as soon as you launch it.

Filter Activation

When the app starts working the filter is activated and black spots appear on the blank spaces and turning off the pixels. This turning off automatically saves the battery power by reducing the pixel resolution. This method does not really produce and effective result.

For saving the battery only

At low battery level tap on the “Booting” tab on the top right, then check “Start on specific battery level” and “And only then” then use the slider below to set the battery threshold to switch off the apps.

Default notification and quick toggle

The app runs in persistent mode, so Android can’t close it at random. The notification gives you a quick on / off toggle, to help save battery.

Toggle at will

Go to the power saving mood by turning off all the apps if you want battery saving in the extreme cases.
