Android: To stop app shortcuts from being created automatically on your home screen
You have your way of keeping Android phones home screens organized with your app shortcuts, your folders, and widgets and place them on the home screen where you want to see them. It happens suddenly that your arrangement is disturbed by automatic pop up of some icon of some application that you just downloaded. This may be disturbing you and your arrangement.
It is quite natural with all the users whether casual or power user. They are all tempted to download the apps, if not by necessity, may be out of curiosity. You know it that every new app you download has a shortcut icon eager to appear on your home screen. It may not be a big issue for many who like to see too many icons on the screen and fell happy how well their home screen is populated. For others dozens of automatically added app icons may be unnecessary and feel like removing this clutter.
It is by default that any application downloaded would like to show itself on the screen and icon is the way it does. Well it is not a big problem and you need not feel perturbed about it. You have a way to make things work for you; you can remove them or group them under one category in separate folder.
To turn Android’s automatic app shortcut off, open your Play Store application. Open the Settings menu and select the relevant option labeled “Add icon to Home screen for new apps”. Just disable it and you will have any more of them.
After you disable the option, the app shortcuts will not be generated automatically and will not disturb your home screen even after installing an application. Your tidiness will not be spoiled and things will remain the way you want them.
To keep your home screen clean, open Play store, click on the Menu icon, go to settings and uncheck the box next to “Auto-add widgets”. Your home screen will remain as organized as you like.
